Google Street View Adventures and Painting

It’s fun to visit other places via Google Street View. Cheap way to travel. Head up to Rhodes Iowa, down to St Augustine and then zip over to Prague CZ. Be a jet setter! Romania, Croatia and Bulgaria have recently allowed Google Street View there.

I will screen shot an image I like, get my perspective down and add or subtract whatever suits the design.

This one is in gouache, 7×9 inches in my sketchbook.

I randomly landed on these next two Iowa views. This is a cool looking old church in Rhodes Iowa. It is in acrylic 8×10 using my brighter palette. Golden Acrylics are my favorites by the way!

This next one is in Colo Iowa. I dropped out of the sky on Google StreetView and landed right in front of this old gas station. I cleaned it up quite a bit. It is in acrylic 9×12.

“Travel the Lincoln or Jefferson Highway to the “one-stop” destination of many travelers during the 1940’s. The Reed/Niland Corner provides a self-guided walking tour of this recently renovated site. As you walk along the pathways, you will learn its history and view the actual motel facilities and gas station with its artifacts. A visit to the Reed/Niland Corner will take you back to the 40’s!”

Cruising on later in my google jet, I visited St. Augustine FL and did a 9×7 watercolor of this scene headed up Flagler Street.

If you get bored with the local scenery, fire up the google jet and visit another town or country for some new scenes and subjects.
